Drawing Across the Language Barrier

Using cartoons, and fairy tales that translate across many cultures and several languages, Andrea, Chen, Erika and Board member Chris Murphy conducted a series of pilot workshops in animation with English, Polish, Cantonese and Mandarin speaking groups in greater Belfast.  The groups were introduced to story telling technique, cartooning and devising: the techniques that the company has used so far in the creation of this environmental theatre project.

This photograph shows the story board created by a Mandarin speaking mothers' group based on Cinderella.  (Support by our partners at Barnardos and Belfast City Council's Good Relations).

Environmental Hosting for Our Website

Sitting here with Chen Ko, getting ready for the community workshops later in the week.  Chen and I are talking about possible next steps for the website: redesign, and importantly, environmentally friendly hosting.

Over to you Chen...

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope everyone is doing well. I have been looking at the old website of Terra Nova and thought we need to revamp it a little. I think the main thing that we should be looking at is 'Simple, yet effective' theme. A website that is easy to use, simple, interactive, clear, vibrant and most importantly, the first impression that we give to our 'surfers/audiences'. We want the audience to be aware that we are environmentally friendly without shoving it down their throats.

Please take a look at these particular websites of 'Frantic Assembly' and 'Theatre de Complicité'. I feel that these are beautiful yet effective websites, also it intrigues us to delve in a little more to them.

Theatre de Complicité

Also, I have been looking at some web hosting websites that are environmentally friendly and would love to hear your feedback on these, I personally prefer the 'GreenHosting' as it is simple and is based in the U.K, on top of that, it's 100% wind powered.

Wind Powered Web Hosting (U.K)

If you have anything to add, please don't hesitate to comment. I would love your feedback on this.

A Title

Talking to various members of the company, testing things out with Board members, chatting with all and sundry, I believe I've found the title for the work.  A quote from Wordsworth...

All At Once I Saw A Crowd

Not depressing, not hectoring, hinting obliquely at the core scientific issue of the piece...

Rough Montage of May Workshop

Here is the first montage of the May workshop video.  It is without sound (aside for the sound inherent in the clips) or animation. Please contact me if you want to see the draft trailer script this drops into.
